and here it is..
It's been a labour of love as embroidering the flowers on the top took forever! Firstly, my machine broke and I had to use my trusty old Alfa which only does straight stitch... but I battled on. We have a dusty house and no one has been fed as I have done nothing else but sew for the last month!
To start with I decided on the pattern to use. As I love all things vintage, and I have never really made anything from the 60's before, I chose a 60's top pattern from the list. You can see the pattern for my vintage top on the Simplicity website here.
I researched 60's prints and designs for inspiration. After settling on my colours and design I got started.
As I love doing free hand embroidery I decided on a 60's flower pattern using Su Fleece to embroider on to. When you rinse it under warm water only the fleece disappears and you are left with just the stitching - amazing stuff!!
When I first started, I had the intention of doing the whole top in this way. I started the sleeves first just in case I ran out of time, which I did. So, I had a slight change of plan and decided to do the body in black silk.
I am very pleased with the results - just need to make something to go with it now! I have some nice orange suede.. watch this space!
If anyone has any questions I'd love to hear from you!
Happy sewing,
Sarah B
